Success is never an entitlement. You must work hard for it. If you are to succeed in making money online, your chances will be greatly increased by embracing the following three tips. Note that these tips can help you to accomplish almost any goal, from becoming a singer to being the best parent you can be.
1) Visualize your success.
It is very important to visualize your success every day; right here, right now. What success looks and feels like must be very clear in your mind.
Jon Spoelstra was a keynote speaker at the latest Affiliate Summit West 2012. Most often, I have found that keynote speakers can teach one or two valuable ideas. Keynote speakers are often accomplished individuals who share one or two of their life lessons. I believe most people can share a few very valuable experiences about their lives. If assimilated properly these life tips can save you time and grief. Sometimes even with their knowledge you will still end up making mistakes. But in such cases, you might remember these speakers and knowing that other people handled a situation and survived it to talk of it, might also be a powerful crutch.
During the last Affiliate Summit, the last keynote speaker, Jeremy Shoemaker (aka “Shoemoney”), announced that it would be his last conference gig. No worries; Shoemoney is not dead or dying but simply retiring from such activities. I think his last presentation was a pretty good lesson which many of us should try to assimilate. Basically, through a series of true life examples, Jeremy told us:
1) Be Bold. Be VERY BOLD! Do things that are morally on the edge.
2) Exploit people’s passions, religion being the ultimate marketing product.
Affiliate Summit 2012 just ended. What an event it was! Thanks to Shawn Collins and Missy Ward for putting together another great event. Organizing an event with more then 5000 attendees is no small task. I recommend attending these events as you will meet other great people and find inspiration and knowledge in your quest to becoming a more successful affiliate. Why do we have affiliate links?
An ‘affiliate link’ is a special URL that contains your unique affiliate ID (or Network Affiliate ID when working with a network). You use them when driving traffic to a particular place. Vendors use affiliate links to track who sent traffic to their websites. This is how they know to whom to credit a sale. As an affiliate, you will use these links as part of your advertising efforts be they through social networking sites, pay per click ads, your own website, etc.
California is about to adopt the irrational “affiliate tax” law. Stores are starting to warn their California affiliates, that they will be terminated once the start date of this potential new law is confirmed. All super affiliates will leave California so they can continue feeding their families. California will loose their typically high income tax, property tax and sales taxes. Out of state stores will continue to sell to California residents without collecting the sales taxes. Biggest looser: California. Following is one of these warning letters:
As a professional affiliate, I deal with many hosting companies. On top of that, I operated a brick and mortar hosting company for nearly 10 years prior to become an affiliate. In other words I know this field very well. I have many dedicated and virtual private server (VPS) servers. In some case, I have a spare VPS just to always have one ready and frankly I sort of enjoy comparing hosting firms.

In 2010, Colorado legislation introduced an “Advertising Tax” Bill (HB-1193). Since the original bill would have forced me to move out of state, I had to learn more about this issue. Ultimately, Colorado affiliates successfully got the “affiliate” part removed from the law and I was able to stay, but let me tell you; most of what you hear about this bill is/was misleading or flat out lies.
I have read so much ignorance about these “Amazon tax” type bills (sometimes from people I like) that it literally pains me, so I decided to write this summary of it and hope it will help remove some of the demagogy surrounding it. Affiliate Summit West finished last week…wew…what an event!
First, the choice of venue was an excellent pick for Las Vegas. The Wynn Hotel is one of the few true 5 Star hotels. It’s modern, clean and offers plenty of amenities. I treated myself and Joe to a Wynn Salon Suite. You can find a tour here (click on the image to the left).
Since becoming a full time internet marketer, I wondered if going to internet marketing trade shows was a good value. After attending a few affiliate marketing trade-shows, I realized that these meetings can bring a lot of value. I have to admit that at first I was a little skeptical; why waste time and money when you could be doing more internet marketing activities to increase the bottom line? Well, there are many reasons.
